Former Manning Rangers striker Gilbert Mushangazhike has snubbed a call up to
the Zimbabwean senior soccer team, arguing the call up is not official.
The former Warriors’ striker did not join other players who arrived at the camp on Monday night.
Mushangazhike, who now plies his trade in China says that although he wants to play for his country,
the manner in which he was called up is not professional.
“I’m a professional and I expect things to be done professional as well. I can’t just
join camp because I’ve seen my name in the newspaper. The technical department should
have phoned me. If they approach me properly, I will come,” he adds.
Zimbabwe are preparing for the African Cup of Nations finals in Egypt.
National team coach Charles Mhlauri says they have sent a fax to his club in China
and are trying to locate the player who is in Zimbabwe for his off-season break.
"He was not part of plans initially and he complained trough the same papers which he read his
national team call up", Mhlauri added.
