Zimbabwe has once again been grouped with the some of the most powerful
sides for the African Cup of Nations to take place in Egypt from 20 January to 10 February.
The “Warriors” in what has been termed as a group of death with, Nigeria, Ghana and Senegal.
Two years ago they found themselves in a similar situation when they were paired with Cameroon and
Tunisia, who went on to win the tournament that year.
Zimbabwe and Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder, Esrom Nyandoro told Kick Off that his country has
what it takes to compete in Egypt.
“We are all excited about playing in the Cup of Nations, but we know that it is going to be
very tough for us.

This is not new to us as in 2002 we were faced with the same situation,
where we had to deal with both Cameroon and Tunisia in the same group. This time we find ourselves with Nigeria, Ghana and Senegal,” he says.
“It is going to be tough, but this is football and anything is possible,” Nyandoro says.
Nyandoro told Kick Off that he is happy that the South African based players have been on top form
and they should contribute positively to the success of the team in the land of the Pharaohs.
“The guys have been playing well for their clubs and this is good news as we approach the Nations Cup.”
Zimbabwe has also been boosted by the availability of one time Castle Premiership Player of the Year,
Benjani Mwaruwari and the Warriors will be camping as from the 26 December in a venue to be announced.
