ZAMBIAN legend Kalusha Bwalya has told the Warriors that they should beat Senegal in
their opening African Cup of Nations match if Zimbabwe intends to go far at the tournament.
The Warriors are in the so-called Group of Death, which also features Ghana and Nigeria. They play their
first match against the Lions of Teranga on January 23 at Port Said Stadium.
The 1988 African Player of the Year and Zambia’s director of football made the remark after Chipolopolo’s 1-1
draw against Zimbabwe at the National Sports Stadium.“The group is intimidating on paper and Zimbabwe players
may feel the same given the names of their opponents. But they should focus on beating Senegal.

The result will frighten Ghana and Nigeria.“It will add self-belief in players and they will certainly produce more positive
results in the following matches,” said Bwalya.
The Zambian mentor expressed confidence that Zimbabwe will pull a surprise at the finals.“The Ghanaians
have never been to the World Cup but they qualified for Germany 2006 not because they were very good but they
believed. The Zimbabwean central defence is very strong and can match any strike force on the continent. The same
applies to their attack, which is very sharp. They can be a big surprise in Egypt,” he said.
