Zimbabwe lose to Egypt in AFCON Friendly

Egypt continued their good preparations for the Nations Cup when beating Zimbabwe 2-0 in a friendly in Alexandria on Wednesday.

The Warriors started without a few reqular players including captain Peter Ndlovu off injury gave a good account of themselves but failed to convert numerous chances that came their way.

Chinese based Gilbert Mushangazhike could have scored on three occassions in the first half if Zimbabwe had put away the chances they created.

Abdel Halim Aly opened the scoring after 32 minutes and then doubled Egypt's lead late in the second half.

The victory is the Nations Cup hosts' third straight victory in a row.

The Pharaohs defeated Uganda in the LG Cup, where they beat Senegal 4-2 in the final.

On Friday, fellow Nations Cup finalists Zimbabwe leave for France to continue their Nations Cup preparations.

The Nations Cup kicks off in Egypt on 20 January.
