Bunjira to stay with relagated Wits

Alois Bunjira
Wits University might have been relegated, but Zimbabwean striker Alois Bunjira has revealed that he will stay loyal to the side.

Wits lost their final game of the season to Silver Stars by 3-2, thus ending their Castle Premiership tenure which commenced in the 1970’s.

Wits’ drop has been likely for the most part of the season, but it was play-offs bound Manning Rangers who were the leading candidates to get the chop.
Now Bunjira, who is already reported to be the target of some Premiership clubs, told Kick Off that instead of jumping ship, he will settle upon going down with the “Clever boys.”
“I’ve always enjoyed my football at Wits and I gained most of my prominence during my stay, but I’m considering staying on and help them get back into the big League,” said Bunjira.
But Bunjira insists that the clubs’ management is yet to hold any talks with the players regarding their future.
“But if they want me to stay, I won’t even think twice,” Bunjira told Kick Off.
It is common within South African football that when a team gets relegated to the lower division, the management resort into proposing salary cuts to the players, but should that be the case, could a player of Bunjira’s calibre settle for a wage decrease?
“It will depend on how much they are decreasing it with, but just as long as I will live my life they way I was before, I can settle for it,” Bunjira responded.
As for the coaching staff, it has been rumoured throughout the season that head coach Roger de Sa could be heading to Bunjira’s former side Mamelodi Sundowns.
However, De Sa confirmed to Kick Off of having talks with the Sundowns management, but claimed not to have “made up my mind yet about my future.”
Now recent reports have been linking the former Bafana Bafana goalie to Kaizer Chiefs, amid the much talked about departure of Ted Dumitru.
De Sa was unavailable for any comment when Kick Off attempted to contact him.
